Sarcasm however, is a certain way of jokingly saying something without actually meaning what you say, but instead meaning the opposite. It is the tone you use that deciphers if it is sarcasm or not.

Lemme give you an example. I could say something like “Oh, that lady. She seems nice.” Now I said that without sarcasm. Here’s with the sarcasm. “Oh, that lady. She seems nice.” See how I say it differently, as if I don’t sound happy or enthusiastic when I say parts of the sentence? That’s the sarcasm thrown in. With it, I can make a sentence that would normally be a complement, and turn it into an insult. Typically it is used by mons like myself in certain situations to lighten the mood, or well, generate the closest thing I can to humor.

Go ahead and give it a try, it might help you with understanding Tao’s culture. Sarcasm is quite common, and even used by Jewel if you didn’t know. ouo

CuJario: It allows someone to say something jokingly instead of being serious. If anyone gets offended, let them and ignore them. You are trying to learn and that is understandable. If they want to be rude about it I’ll deal with them and you won’t have to worry about it.

But I do see what you are having trouble with. Anxiety. You are fearful of making a mistake and causing someone to be angry with you, that much is obvious. All you need to do is just calm down a little, relax, and be yourself. If they are angry with you after that, then that is not your problem, because you know you don’t need to speak to them again unless you want. You have excellent manners, happen to be extremely well spoken, and are considerate enough to take the feelings of others into account when speaking. If they can’t find at least one reason to like you, then they don’t deserve to have your friendship because you seem like a good kid to me.

Maybe you should meet my kids, they’d probably be your best bet at learning to open up and understand social stuff in this area a bit more. My son Forte was so shy at one point I swear he nearly had a heart attack every time he met someone new. Now though? He makes me proud as a father and a rescuer with his bravery, determination, and ability to stand up for himself. My daughter Piano is one tough girl. She doesn’t take crap from anyone, even me, and I couldn’t be more proud to know she has also learned to think things through and consider what might become of her actions and words. 

But enough of me rambling on about my kids. If you ever need help with anything, have Jewel, Rita, Sammy, my kids, or anyone who knows where I live bring you over to my place, or obviously find me. I live right on the edge of Creeping Forest with most of my family and a few friends, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.
